In a significant milestone in India’s green mobility journey, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Maruti Suzuki’s first made in India Battery Electric Vehicle, the “e ITARA,” earlier this week. The EV, being manufactured at the company’s Hansalpur plant in Gujarat, will be exported to more than 100 countries, including Europe and Japan. Additionally, the Prime Minister also inaugurated localized production of hybrid battery electrodes at the TDS Lithium-Ion Battery plant, a joint venture of Toshiba, Denso and Suzuki, ensuring that more than 80 percent of battery value is manufactured within India, helping in achieving the shared goal of “Make in India, Make for the World”. These landmark developments not only position India as a major player in the global EV supply chain but also mark a decisive leap towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat and clean energy innovation.
