The Commonwealth Games will return to India after a gap of 20 years, with Ahmedabad named the host city of the 2030 Commonwealth Games. Delegates from 74 Commonwealth member nations and territories approved India’s bid, after which the announcement was made at the Commonwealth Sport General Assembly in Glasgow on Wednesday. This marks a significant moment for India as this is the first time after 2010 that Commonwealth Games will be held in India, also the 2030 edition of the Games mark the centenary of the Commonwealth Games… The first Commonwealth Games were held in 1930 in Hamilton, Canada. So while it’s a matter of immense pride for India to be hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games which mark 100 years of its journey, we take a moment to discuss how motivating it is for the country’s sporting community.
