With the vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, the government has placed tribal welfare and empowerment at the centre of its development agenda. Home to over 10 crore tribal citizens belonging to more than 700 communities, India’s tribal population reflects the country’s remarkable cultural diversity and traditional knowledge systems. Over the past decade, several focused initiatives have been launched to improve education, healthcare, infrastructure, livelihoods and social security in tribal regions. From expanding Eklavya Model Residential Schools and scholarship support for tribal students to flagship programmes such as PM-JANMAN and the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, efforts have been made to ensure that development reaches even the most remote and under-served communities. Addressing a programme in Rairangpur in Odisha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that tribal communities are becoming active partners in India’s development journey. He highlighted the government’s commitment to expanding opportunities in education, healthcare and employment while preserving the rich cultural heritage of tribal societies. So In today’s programme, we will discuss India’s tribal diversity, the challenges and aspirations of tribal communities, and the various government initiatives aimed at empowering them and ensuring their participation in the journey towards a Viksit Bharat.
