In this episode of the Perspective Prog. Based on ‘Taking Forward Abe’s Legacy’. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe State Funeral in Tokyo on Tuesday. Attended by representatives from over 100 countries, the state funeral was the first for a former Prime Minister in 55 years with flowers, prayers and a 19-gun salute. Following the funeral, Prime Minister Modi had a private meeting with Mrs. Akie Abe, during which he recalled his fond memories with “Abe San” and conveyed his heartfelt condolences on the tragic loss. Earlier, the Prime Minister conveyed his deepest condolences to his counterpart Fumio Kishida over the sudden demise of Shinzo Abe, underlining the late Japanese leader’s contributions in strengthening the bilateral partnership as well as his vision of a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region. As a tribute to the friend of India, we look back at how Shinzo Abe advanced India-Japan ties and the contours of our relations post his demise.
