In this episode of the Perspective Prog. Based on ‘States’ Startup Ranking 2021’. Gujarat, Karnataka and Meghalaya have emerged as the best performer states in developing startup ecosystems for budding entrepreneurs, Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha and Telangana have been categorised as top performers. This is as per the results of the 3rd edition of Ranking of States’ on Support to Start-up Ecosystems, announced by Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) conducted the exercise with the key objective to promote India’s vision of competitive and cooperative federalism. A total of 24 states and 7 Union territories (UTs) participated in the exercise and they were ranked under five categories – best performers, top performers, leaders, aspiring leaders and emerging startup ecosystems. What are the assessments based on? How has the startup ecosystem strengthened in states? Also, as India becomes one of the leading start-up nations globally, what needs to be done for robust growth of entrepreneurship in Tier II and Tier III cities of the country?
