Today on the show, we focus on India’s new counter-terrorism policy unveiled by the Ministry of Home Affairs – a strategy titled PRAHAAR. Designed as a proactive and comprehensive framework, PRAHAAR seeks to address the evolving nature of terror threats – preventing attacks, responding decisively, and strengthening national resilience. So let’s take a quick look at what PRAHAAR stands for. PRAHAAR outlines a seven-layered strategy. The Ministry has underlined that while terror threats are constantly evolving – in form, technology, and scale – India’s position remains unwavering: zero tolerance for terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. The policy reiterates India’s long-standing belief that there can be no justification for violence, and that the rights of victims must remain central. It also commits to criminalising all terrorist acts, choking off funds, weapons, and safe havens, and countering the misuse of Information and Communications Technology for terrorist purposes. So how robust is this seven-layered framework?, Does PRAHAAR adequately address emerging technological risks?, And what does implementation on the ground look like?
