Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined U.S. President Joe Biden, Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid and UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the first virtual summit of the four-nation grouping ‘I2U2’ on Thursday. ‘I2’ stands for India and Israel and ‘U2’ for the US and the UAE. The grouping was conceptualized during the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the four countries in October 2021. It is aimed at enhancing mutual cooperation and economic partnerships with the member countries having agreed to encourage joint investments in six mutually identified areas such as water, energy, transportation, space, health, and food security. Speaking at the first summit of the coalition, Prime Minister Modi said the I2U2 has established a positive agenda and its framework is a good model for practical cooperation in the face of increasing global uncertainties. He asserted that by mobilising the mutual strengths – such as capital, expertise and markets – the four-nation grouping can accelerate not just its own vision & agenda, but contribute significantly to the global economy.
