Description:- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has concluded a landmark three-day State Visit to Seychelles from June 27 to 29, 2026. The visit coincided with two historic milestones—the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both nations and Seychelles’ Golden Jubilee of Independence. During the visit, Prime Minister Modi held comprehensive talks with the President of Seychelles. The two leaders reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and agreed to deepen cooperation in key sectors, including health, education, digital transformation, renewable energy, maritime security and defence. They also exchanged views on regional and global issues, particularly challenges facing the Indian Ocean region, including piracy, illegal fishing and drug trafficking. Prime Minister Modi was also conferred Seychelles’ highest civilian honour—the ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’ Presidential Distinction. In another historic first, Prime Minister Modi became the first Indian Prime Minister to address the National Assembly of Seychelles. In his address, he underlined the enduring friendship between the two countries, their shared democratic values, and India’s commitment to the Indian Ocean under its MAHASAGAR Vision. He also called for closer parliamentary engagement between the two democracies. Seychelles remains a key maritime partner and an important pillar of India’s vision for a secure, stable and prosperous Indian Ocean. So, on the programme today, we will examine the key outcomes of Prime Minister Modi’s visit, its strategic significance, and what the next chapter of the two nation’s relations holds.
