India has taken the lead on the global stage when it comes to fast payments — and at the heart of this digital revolution is UPI. A recent note from the International Monetary Fund, titled ‘Growing Retail Digital Payments: The Value of Interoperability’, says India now makes faster payments than any other country in the world.

The numbers speak for themselves — UPI processes over 18 billion transactions every month, and has even overtaken Visa, clocking more

than 650 million transactions daily compared to Visa’s 639 million.
