The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted the maiden flight test of its Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile on 12th November 2024.The maiden flight took off from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha, from a mobile articulated launcher. Developed by the Aeronautical Development Establishment, Bengaluru along with contribution from other DRDO laboratories and Indian industries, Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile is a key addition to modern military arsenal. LRLACM is designed to be launched from both mobile ground-based systems and frontline ships, using a universal vertical launch module, further enhancing its operational flexibility. Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh complimented DRDO, Armed Forces, and the Industry on the successful Maiden Flight Test. He said the achievement paves the way for future indigenous cruise missile development programmes.
