Perspective: Bonhomie Among Political Parties | 21 July, 2025

Sansad Tv

“Let us not look for enemies within…Every Indian political party, every parliamentarian, to my knowledge, is a nationalist at the end of the day.” That’s the powerful appeal from Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar – as he urged the leadership of all political parties in the country to rise above bitterness and embrace the spirit of dialogue, mutual respect, and civilisational decorum. Drawing attention towards the bitterness among the political parties being reflected on Television debates, the Vice-President stated that politics is not confrontation. It is about achieving the same objective, i.e. national development, in different ways. The Vice-President and the Rajya Sabha Chairman also highlighted the need for meaningful discussions in the Monsoon session of the Parliament, urging political parties to engage in constructive politics. In the wake of the call from the Rajya Sabha Chairman to prioritise dialogue over discord, we discuss how can the politics of ideas, and not insults be the norm? How can we re-establish Anantavad – the belief in endless, respectful dialogue in today’s political discourse? To realize the vision of a Viksit Bharat, how can we work together, prioritizing national development over everything else…
