Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah addressed a series of political rallies on Saturday, seeking votes in the name of development… While Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi kicked off the party’s election campaign called the Parivartan Pratigya rally, accusing the ruling BJP of failing to keep its promises to the people. Traditionally, the state of Himachal Pradesh has witnessed a bipolar contest between the BJP and the Congress, and over the last 42 years the two national parties have alternated in power. This time, there’s a new entrant in the state’s political landscape. The Aam Aadmi Party has turned the elections into a three-cornered contest. After a landslide win in neighbouring Punjab, what are the prospects of the Aam Aadmi Party in Himachal Pradesh? Will the BJP be able to break the tradition of the state voting out the incumbent? Or will the Congress be able to unseat the BJP?
