Hours after India launched ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’, hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed….when the world awaited details of retaliatory attacks carried out by India against terror launchpads… the selection of targets, the method of the execution and so on… two fearless women officers of the Indian Armed Forces – Wing Commander Vyomika Singh and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi – appeared before the media and jointly addressed the press – giving details of how the strikes were carried out, specifying the locations of the targeted sites.
It is the first time in Indian history that two women officers led the official press briefing on a major military operation, which was named Operation Sindoor.
While the move is largely symbolic, it has delivered a bold statement – a declaration to the world reflecting not just India’s resolve to respond to terrorism but also the rising strength of women in the armed forces.
