22nd of April, 2025 marks the 55th anniversary of Earth Day – the day earmarked in the global calendar to raise awareness about environmental issues and encourage action to protect it.
The global theme of Earth Day 2025 is ‘Our Power, Our Planet’ – bringing the spotlight on the need to harness renewable energy in order to build a healthy, sustainable, equitable and prosperous future for all.
The aim is to unite countries behind renewable energy, with the goal of tripling the global generation of clean electricity by 2030.
What is the kind of progress that countries are making towards renewable capacity growth, India’s renewable energy journey and the key policies underscoring India’s growing commitment to clean energy and its progress in building a greener future – these are some aspects of discussion here with Dr. Vibha Dhawan, DG, TERI and Mr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Former Addl Secretary, MoEFCC.
