The spiralling controversy surrounding the alleged recovery of huge piles of cash from the official residence of Delhi High Court judge Yashwant Verma has once again precipitated concerns over the urgent need for judicial reforms, transparency and accountability.
Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar has urged lawmakers to address these concerns at the earliest in order to restore public trust in the judiciary.
Earlier this week, he chaired a meeting of all political parties to discuss how a mechanism for ensuring judicial accountability could be evolved.
