In this episode of the Perspective Prog. Based on ‘Verdict 2022’. It’s been a euphoric day for both the BJP and the Congress. The people of Gujarat have handed over an unprecedented victory to the BJP, propelling the ruling party to a record tally, while Himachal Pradesh has chosen the Congress to rule the state for the next 5 years. For its emphatic victory, the BJP has attributed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s credibility and people’s trust in his leadership. With 157 seats and over 52% vote share, the BJP has shattered all previous records in the state. The Congress is a distant second followed by the Aam Aadmi Party. In Himachal Pradesh, the Congress registered a comfortable victory with 40 seats. It remains to be seen who the party will pick as its CM-candidate. In Perspective tonight, we analyse the election results in both states and its national implications.
