Perspective: Regulating Apps | 13 January, 2022

In this episode of the Perspective Prog. based on ‘Regulating Apps’. Mobile apps have become a significant part of the lives of smartphone users. Almost every person seems to be dependent on them. In India a smartphone user spends about 3.5 hours a day on the smartphone device, specifically on a mobile app. With new apps coming in every day, there is no denying the fact that they have a huge impact on not just the life of a person but also on the manner in which he or she thinks, behaves or perceives. However there is a huge flipside of this flourishing mobile app environment which has become evident quite often in the recent past in cases like that of Bulli Bai App where such apps were used to target women and communities. So how do we deal with such challenges and what are the provisions in the legal framework to tackle such issues.
