Perspective: Gujarat Assembly Polls | 24 November, 2022

Sansad TV
Assembly elections in Gujarat have primarily been bipolar between BJP and Congress since late 90s in which BJP emerged as the winner in six assembly polls consecutively. In the 2017 assembly elections, the top two parties in Gujarat, BJP and Congress had a combined vote share of 90%. This number has not gone down below 80% in all assembly elections since 1998. However analysts say that Aam Admi Party’s (AAP) entry in the electoral contest this time may change this long-term trend in the western state, which is also the BJP’s strongest bastion and Prime Minister Modi’s home state.
So what is happening in this triangular electoral battle in Gujarat. What kind of electoral strategies are being deployed by political parties and what are the major issues in these assembly polls.
