In this episode of the Perspective Prog. Based on ’23rd Kargil Vijay Diwas’. Kargil Vijay Diwas – the day when India commemorates its victory over Pakistan in the war of 1999. It was on this day, 26th July, 1999, when the Indian Army announced successful culmination of “Operation Vijay”, declaring victory after a nearly three-month-long battle on the icy heights of Kargil. Hailing the day as a symbol of extraordinary bravery, valour and determination of our armed forces, President Draupadi Murmu paid homage to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives in the war. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Kargil Vijay Diwas a symbol of pride & glory for India. Indeed, the country bows down to the valour and indomitable courage of its soldiers, and remembers with gratitude those who made the supreme sacrifice to raise India’s flag to victory. But this costly victory also taught us many lessons. 23 years on, how have we strengthened ourselves in the face of new challenges?
