In this episode of the Perspective Prog. Based on ‘UG Courses under NEP’. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released the curriculum and credit framework for undergraduate programmes. The new curriculum will provide students with multiple options for entry and exit, a choice between single major and double major and interdisciplinary choices of subjects. In accordance with the NEP 2020, this new framework for Undergraduate Programmes has a flexible choice-based credit system and multidisciplinary approach aimed at facilitating students to pursue their career path by choosing the subject or field of their interest. Honours degree at UG level will now be a four Years course with an option of undertaking research in the fourth year. In the case of students pursuing a multidisciplinary programme, the credits to core courses will be distributed among broad disciplines such as life sciences, physical sciences, mathematical and computer sciences, data analysis, social sciences and humanities. So how will this new framework be implemented and what will be its impact on students and learning outcomes?
