On the show today, we shift attention to Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Italy – the last leg of his five-nation tour. The Prime Minister was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour, following which he held delegation level talks with his Italian counterpart Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The two leaders reviewed progress in implementation of the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-29 and agreed to further deepen and enrich bilateral cooperation especially in areas including trade, investments, technology, defence, blue economy, connectivity, education and people-to-people ties among others. They also discussed geopolitical developments and agreed to work on global issues of shared interest. In a significant decision, both sides agreed to elevate India-Italy ties to Special Strategic Partnership. In an op-ed penned by both Prime Ministers, they’ve described the expansion in India-Italy ties with unprecedented momentum, evolving from a cordial friendship into a special strategic partnership grounded in the values of freedom and democracy, and a common vision for the future. We’ll understand from experts what the key pillars of the India-Italy partnership have been, what are the factors driving expansion in cooperation across sectors and the shared vision for a strong and forward looking future.
