Sudha Murty is a renowned author, philanthropist, and educator who has made significant contributions to the literary and social spheres of India. Born in 1950 in Shiggaon, Karnataka, she is the chairperson of the Infosys Foundation and has authored numerous books, including novels, short stories, and non-fiction works.
Murty’s writings often reflect her keen observation of Indian society, its values, and the challenges faced by individuals in a swiftly changing world. Her works, such as “Wise and Otherwise,” “The Day I Stopped Drinking Milk,” and “How I Taught My Grandmother to Read,” have captivated readers with their insightful narratives and relatable characters. As a philanthropist, Murty has been instrumental in supporting various social welfare initiatives, particularly in the fields of education, healthcare, and rural development. Her dedication to uplifting the underprivileged and promoting education has earned her numerous accolades, including the Padma Bhushan in 2023.
Presented by Dr. Gautam Choubey, ‘Likhawat’ is a show about the books of Bharat – written in many languages, published in different parts of the country, yet rooted in the singularity of Indian ethos.
Each episode of Likhawat will take up a book of national resonance and will feature a special guest who is privy to the intimate story of the book as it was imagined, written, published and read.
