Perspective - Winter Session of Parliament | 22 December, 2021

In this episode of the Perspective Prog. based on Winter Session of Parliament. The Winter Session of Parliament concluded on Wednesday, with both Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha adjourned sine die. Having commenced on 29th November, the Session provided 18 sittings spread over a period of 24 days. During this period, 13 bills were introduced – 12 in Lok Sabha and 1 in Rajya Sabha. 11 Bills were passed by both Houses, which includes one Appropriation Bill relating to the Supplementary Demands for Grants for the year 2021-22, which was passed by Lok Sabha, transmitted to Rajya Sabha and will be deemed to have been passed by both Houses after expiry of 14 days. Talking about productivity, in Lok Sabha it was approximately 82% and that of Rajya Sabha was approximately 48 %. The Session was scheduled to end on 23rd December, but was curtailed a day earlier. In Perspective today, we will analyse the important Bills that were cleared by Parliament and the frequent disruptions that impacted productivity.
