Development of India-Russia relations has been a key pillar of India’s foreign policy. During his recently concluded two-day visit to Russia External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar strongly backed India’s increasing oil imports from Russia saying energy ties with Moscow have worked to India’s advantage. Jaishankar also held detailed discussion with his Russian counterpart on Ukraine conflict saying global economy is too interdependent not to be impacted by a significant conflict and the global south is feeling this pain very acutely. India strongly advocated return to dialogue and diplomacy. Both sides also discussed regional issues including situation in Afghanistan and West Asia.
