In this edition we will take a closer look at the report of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Industry on Promotion of Electric Vehicles in the Country. Electric vehicles are gaining popularity across the globe. Due to fast depletion of fossil fuels, the automotive industry is also shifting from traditional fuel based technology to eco-friendly technologies.
India aims for 80% EV adoption in two- and three-wheelers, 40% in buses, and 30% in private cars by 2030. In 2024, EVs accounted for 7.5% of India’s total vehicle sales, with electric two-wheelers leading the charge, comprising 60% of total EV sales.
