फरवरी का महीना खत्म होते-होते एक बड़ा आर्थिक संकेत हमारे सामने आया है। देश में GST collection 8.1% बढ़कर 1.83 लाख करोड़ रुपये के पार चला गया है। सवाल सिर्फ़ इतना नहीं है कि revenue बढ़ा या नहीं। सवाल ये है कि ये बढ़ोतरी किस वजह से आई, क्या ये real demand का संकेत है,या फिर inflation, compliance tightening और formalisation का असर? एक तरफ़ सरकार इसे economy की strength बता रही है, तो दूसरी तरफ़ सवाल ये भी उठता है ..क्या आम आदमी की जेब पर दबाव बढ़ रहा है?क्या राज्यों की financial health वाकई मजबूत हो रही है?और आने वाले महीनों में इससे growth, fiscal deficit और policy decisions पर क्या असर पड़ेगा?
