India’s latest budget highlights a strong push for forest management, afforestation, and biodiversity conservation. Funding for wildlife protection has increased significantly, with Project Tiger and Project Elephant allocations rising to ₹290 crore. The Green India Mission has also received a 63% boost to expand afforestation efforts.
New initiatives aim to support farmers and rural livelihoods, including a Coconut Promotion Scheme to replace old trees and improve productivity for nearly 10 million farmers. Additionally, new plantation programmes for Agar trees in the North East and high-density cultivation of walnuts, almonds, and pine nuts in hilly regions aim to strengthen both ecology and rural incomes. 🌱
This budget signals a step toward sustainable development, climate resilience, and green livelihoods in India.
