संविधान और संशोधन explores one of the most transformative phases in India’s constitutional journey—the Reorganisation of States and the 7th Constitutional Amendment (1956). This episode examines how India moved from a complex post-Independence administrative structure to a more coherent and uniform federal framework.
The programme explains how state boundaries were reorganized largely on linguistic lines, leading to the abolition of the Part A, B, C, and D classification and the establishment of a simplified structure of States and Union Territories. It highlights the constitutional changes introduced through the 7th Amendment, including reforms in parliamentary representation, redistribution of seats in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, High Court reforms, expanded executive powers, and a new governance framework for Union Territories.
