External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar represented India at the 24th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Astana, under the presidency of Kazakhstan.
Delivering Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks at the summit, Dr. Jaishankar spoke on the need to prioritise combating terrorism, one of the original goals of the SCO.
On the sidelines of the summit, Dr. Jaishankar held a series of bilateral meetings with leaders of SCO countries, including with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi. They discussed an “early resolution of remaining issues in the border areas.”
