The government in February 2021 released a new policy for the geospatial sector in the country. The move liberalised the geospatial data and geospatial data services. The new policy allowed the geospatial sector to be a more competitive field. The step will help start-ups, farmers, public sector, private sector as well as researchers in the country. Maps and accurate geospatial data are also crucial for national infrastructure projects such as linkages of rivers, creation of industrial corridors and deploying smart power systems.
