India is making giant leaps in developing its infrastructure, with a major focus on transportation. The roads and highways sector in the country has seen unprecedented progress in recent years, connecting India and strengthening the economy. The government is augmenting multi-modal transport to connect the remotest parts of the country to the mainstream. India has the second-largest road network in the world and the government is aggressively augmenting it further. India achieved the record breaking milestone of laying highways at the rate of 37 kilometers a day in 2021. With projects like Bharatmala and PM Gram Sadak Yojana, the government aims to bring development to the most far flung areas and rural India. Besides enhancing budget allocation to the sector, the government is also involving private players to boost road construction in a collaborative manner.
