The Budget was first introduced in India on 7th April, 1860 from the East-India Company to the British Crown. The first Indian Budget was presented by James Wilson on February 18, 1869. Mr Wilson was the Finance Member of the India Council that advised the Indian Viceroy. In 2023, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi , Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman ushered in many financial reforms. The economic journey towards a 5 trillion economy continues.
