Dog Breeding & Training School of CRPF has trained and deployed over 1234 K9 teams. 146 Master Trainers including those from sister Forces have also been trained, besides 91 Breeding Practitioners, 22 Decoys, and has trained a pool of over 679 personnel as Dog Handlers in the Force.
The basic Dog Handlers course is commenced when the pups turn 3 months of age. The handlers are summoned a month before for bonding with the pups and socialisation. Thereafter they undergo a training module of 40 weeks before the fully trained K9 teams are deployed for duties in the field. K9 teams trained at this institution have so far been instrumental in the recovery of over 5800 kg of explosives, besides other recoveries, across various operational theatres of the country. For their operational achievements, K9 teams of the Force have been decorated with 18 DG’s Commendation discs.
