In order to develop world class capabilities of specialized responder for any
situation pertaining to damage, disturbance, disruption of train operations,
attack/hostage/hijack, disaster situations in railway areas, CORAS was launched by Minister of Railways on 14 Aug, 2019. The ongoing railway projects like doubling of K-K (Kothavalasa–Kirandul) line in Deep forested areas of Dantewara, Chhatisgarh, a badly naxal affected area or Rourkela-Bandamunda section in Orissa, another naxal affected region, are
monumental endeavours crucial to our nations progress.
The subversive elements used to create obstructions, demand levy, burn
construction equipment, derail trains, kidnap construction workers, railway
employees, guards/drivers of trains, cause sabotage and create various other
hindrances to stall the progress of work.
With CORAS on the site, the projects are progressing at a fast pace and some of
the sections are nearing completion.
