In-Depth: Directive Principles of State Policy | 05 July, 2026

Sansad Tv

The Directive Principles of State Policy (DPSP) are a set of guidelines enshrined in the Constitution of India. Inspired by the Constitution of Ireland, these principles were incorporated by the framers of the Constitution to establish a welfare state based on the ideals of social, economic, and political justice. Although they are not enforceable by courts, Article 37 declares that they are fundamental to the governance of the country, and it is the duty of the State to apply them while making laws and policies.
