Viewpoint: India-Paraguay & Latin America Ties | Episode-24 | 09 June, 2025

India and Paraguay have decided to further strengthen their ties and work in sectors like clean energy, green hydrogen and biofuels. The decision was taken during the delegation-level talks held between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Paraguay President Santiago Peña Palacios in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also told the visiting President said that both countries could work together to further expand the preferential trade agreement with other South American countries and their trading bloc MERCOSUR. MERCOSUR (or Common Market of the South) is a trading bloc in South America, comprising Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. It was founded in 1991 with the aim of establishing a customs union and a common market, allowing for the free movement of goods, services, capital, and people among member countries.
