After the successful organisation of the G20 Summit in September 2023, India—the Mother of Democracy—brought the democratic world together by hosting the Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit, P20, in New Delhi in October 2023.
The Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit, popularly known as P20, is an engagement group of the G20. It brings together Speakers and Presiding Officers of Parliaments from G20 member countries.
Held under the theme “One Earth, One Family, One Future”, the New Delhi P20 Summit united the democracies of the world and reinforced the spirit of cooperation, dialogue and collective action in addressing global challenges.
The P20 Summit provided India with an opportunity to showcase its rich democratic legacy before the world. The programme highlights Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message of universal brotherhood, India’s deep democratic roots, and the successful organisation of the event under the chairmanship of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
The programme also outlines the key issues deliberated upon at the New Delhi Summit and examines how the world’s largest democracy is addressing these and other socio-economic challenges of contemporary times.
