She is a renowned ophthalmologist and co-founder of Aravind Eye Hospital, Dr. Natichar has been awarded The Padma Shree in recognition of her distinguished contribution in the field of medicine. She is presently the Director Emeritus (i-maa-ri-tus) of the renowned Aravind Eye Care hospitals in Madurai, Tamil Nadu.
