A Parliamentary delegation led by Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh attended the 148th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) during 23-27 March. The Delegation was accompanied by five Rajya Sabha members namely S. Niranjan Reddy, Kartikeya Sharma, Dr. Ashok Mittal, Dr. Prashanta Nanda & Sumitra Balmik. The Delegation attended the meetings of IPU Asia Pacific Geo Political Group(APG), BRICS Parliamentary Coordination Forum and IPU Forum of Women Parliamentarians. The IPU Assembly also endorsed a motion calling for reform of the United Nations Security Council to better reflect the geopolitical realities of the 21st century and make it more democratic and accountable.
