In this episode of the Perspective Prog. Based on ‘Rishi Sunak: UK’s New PM’. Newly-appointed British Prime Minster Rishi Sunak said on Tuesday that he has been elected to fix some of the “mistakes” made by his predecessor, as he promised to place “economic stability and confidence” at the heart of his government’s agenda. Soon after taking charge as Britain’s first Indian-origin Prime Minister after meeting King Charles III, Sunak said he would confront the “profound economic crisis” with compassion and lead a government of “integrity, professionalism and accountability.” Pledging unity and stability as his top priorities, the new Prime Minister said he will unite the country not with words but with action. Sunak became Britain’s third prime minister of the year and is now tasked with the enormous challenge of taming the economic crisis that has left the country’s finances in a precarious state and millions of Britons struggling to afford food and energy bills. How will Rishi Sunak, the youngest British Prime Minister in 200 years, tackle the country’s economic challenges? How will he unite his deeply divided party and most importantly, revive people’s confidence in the Conservative Party which is fast losing popularity? Also, what is his vision for India-UK partnership?
