In this episode of the Perspective Prog. based on ‘Presidential Election 2022’. The election to appoint the 15th president of India will take place on 18th July. Battlelines are drawn between the govt and opposition with both sides fielding their candidate for the top post in the nation. While Droupadi Murmu filed her nomination as NDA govt’s nominee on June 25 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and top BJP leaders including several chief ministers, Opposition’s candidate Yashwant Sinha filed his nomination on 27th June. The President of India is elected by an electoral college consisting of MPs of both Houses of Parliament and MLAs of the states and Delhi and Puducherry. Nominated members of Rajya Sabha, Lok Sabha and the Assemblies, and members of state Legislative Councils, are not part of this electoral college.We will discuss and analyse all aspects of the forthcoming Presidential election.
