The speaker of Lok Sabha is the presiding officer and the highest authority of the house of people. The speaker is generally elected in the first session of the Lok Sabha after General Election. The speaker maintains order and discipline of the house during the legislative session and presides over the joint session of the two Houses of Parliament.
