The economic impact of Covid-19 pandemic has caused unprecedented damage to the global economy and India is no exception. However, India took the challenge to create new avenues of growth and rejuvenate the existing ones. India’s broad range of fiscal, monetary and health responses to the crisis supported its recovery and, along with economic reforms, helped to mitigate a longer-lasting adverse impact of the crisis. If 2020 was the year when Covid hit India and 2021 was the year when India’s economy recovered from that shock, would 2022 be the year that would give the healing touch to the economy. In this show, we take a look at how the Union Budget 2022-23 could provide the roadmap for sustained growth and recovery.
