Parliament formulated the historic Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act in 2013 or The POSH Act, 2013. The objective of this landmark statue was to provide protection against sexual harassment of women at workplace and for the prevention and redressal of complaints of sexual harassment. The need for such legislation was observed for the first time by the Supreme Court, in Vishaka v State of Rajasthan.
