Description- Article 76 of the Indian Constitution under its Part-V deals with the position of Attorney General for India. he/she is the highest law officer of India. As a chief legal advisor to the government of India, he advises the union government on all legal matters. He also is the primary lawyer representing Union Government in the Supreme Court of India. The attorney general is appointed by the President of India on the advice of the Union Cabinet. Senior advocate R Venkataramani was appointed as India’16TH Attorney General (AG) on 28 September 2022. He took office on 1 October 2022 succeeding the incumbent AG KK Venugopal whose term ended on 30 September 2022.
