Elections are considered festivals in a democracy.  India, being the world’s largest democracy, heavily depends on its electoral system for effective governance. Since its first general elections after Independence in 1951-52, the country, its electorate, and technology have undergone substantial changes. In India, the electoral landscape is diverse, spanning general elections, state elections, municipal polls, and various other electoral processes. However, understanding the election terminology and concepts associated with it can often be challenging. In this report we attempt to provide a comprehensive glossary of essential Indian election terminology.
