Prof. Rakesh Sinha was nominated as member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament of India in 2018. A professor at the Motilal Nehru College, University of Delhi, professor Sinha, authored several books including a biography of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh founder K. B. Hedgewar. He frequently appears in debates on national news channels. He was presented the Deendayal Upadhyay award by President Pranab Mukherjee on 30 May 2017. He donated the entire amount of the prize money for social cause. He was also awarded The Bipin Chnadra Pal award 2000 for his writings by the then PM Vajpayee. From effectively raising issues of regional and national importance in the Parliament to firmly airing the views in Parliamentary Standing Committees, Prof Sinha has utilized every opportunity focusing on legislative, deliberative and developmental roles.
