In its ever-increasing pursuit of Atmanirabhar Bharat, India commissioned the first Project 15B destroyer in 2021 to indigenously build frontline destroyers for the Indian Navy. In Defenders, we take you onboard the INS Visakhapatnam, our first indigenous…stealth guided missile destroyer. She is the lead ship and the first of four Visakhapatnam Class Destroyers being built indigenously. Commissioned in November 2021, this warship is the most technologically advanced guided missile destroyer and a testament to the Indian Navy’s might and prowess. This majestic destroyer, is named after the historic city of Andhra Pradesh on the east coast, Visakhapatnam, which is also known as the ‘City of Destiny’.
