In a landmark scientific breakthrough, India has taken a decisive step into the quantum future. In June this year, researchers at IIT Delhi, under the leadership of Professor Bhasker Kanseri, successfully demonstrated quantum entanglement-based free-space Quantum Secure Communication – a first of its kind in the country over a distance of more than one kilometer.The experiment, conducted under the DRDO-Industry-Academia Centre of Excellence, marks a new era in secure communications and also strengthens India’s position in the global quantum race. Today, we are joined by the scientist leading this breakthrough – Professor Bhasker Kanseri – who will talk to us about the achievement, the challenges he and his team faced while carrying out the experiment, and what the breakthrough means for India’s future in quantum technologies.
