The week gone by also saw suspension of nearly two dozen MPs of various opposition parties due to unruly behavior and misconduct. This, of course, became a new flashpoint between the government and the Opposition, leading to further uproar and disruptions. With just two more weeks to go, and the deadlock persisting, is the Monsoon session headed towards a near washout? What are the implications of unproductive parliament sessions – in terms of time and money – for the country? And most importantly, with disruptions becoming the new normal in Parliament functioning, how worrying is it for the world’s largest democracy?
